Practical little lifesavers

Deluxe_6_5kgs_Portable_Drum_Washing_MachineThere are two types of these practical devices: electric washing machines and manual washing machines.

1. Hand powered washing machines: These devices are fantastic if you don’t have an available electric output or you just want to cut down on your electricity bills. They are small, practical and portable and are therefore ideal if you don’t have too much space available. You can easily store it and take it out only when you need it so it saves a lot of that valuable space you might be small of.  If you and your family like to spend most of the time outdoors then hand powered washers are the best way to ensure you will have clean clothes even on longer camping trips. Since these machines are so small and lightweight you can take them with you no matter where you go and have a peace of mind knowing you don’t have to search for an electricity output or the nearest Laundromat.

2. Electric washing machines: These are just perfect for you if you have a small apartment and you just despise having to drag your clothes back and forth to the Laundromat. Electric washing machines are small enough to fit under the sink, like a dishwasher, and all you have to do when you want to use it is to take it out and connect it to the sink for water filling and emptying. Quite simple, right? If you live alone, this gadget is something you certainly want to consider even if you do have space for regular washer. Why? Well, simply because it will allow you to wash your laundry on daily basis-even if it’s just two shirts and a pair of undies.

How to buy a portable washing machine

If you, like many people, are suffering from the lack of space, then a portable washer may be a smart choice. This could save you the distress of hand-washing clothes or spending hours in Laundromat service, so it’s certainly something worth thinking about. But, since there is like a million different models, brands and sizes, the process of picking a excellent washer may be a hard one indeed. By excellent I, off course, mean a washer that will satisfy you completely in terms of capacity, size, portability and price. When shopping for this device, be sure to question for some useful information like:  installation method, water consumption, dryer option, size etc. Making sure your future washer has everything you want is the most vital step of getting a practical and useful machine you will be completely pleased with.

Size- Have in mind that portable washing machines are much smaller than the regular ones so if you live alone or if it’s just two of you in the apartment a portable washer will certainly come handy. If you, but, live in a huge family, do reconsider the choice to buy a portable washer. In this case washing your laundry in a small, portable washer may be quite tiring. If there is a lot of laundry for washing you will have to run the washer a few times and that will result in larger than average water and detergent usage.

Portability and installation- Most portable washing machines are very small and simple to use and store afterwards. You can place them under you kitchen sink and just wheel out when you need them. They connect to the kitchen faucet for filling. Be sure to check the faucet adapter, too, because it should be made to fit any faucet type.

Dryer option- Some portable washing machines come with a dryer so if you don’t have the space for hanging your clothes to dry, this may be pretty useful. But, I have to note that washer-dryer combo machines are much more expensive, which is, off course, quite logical because you get two machines in one.

Water and detergent consumption- Always question for these information because even portable washers differ in the amount of water and detergent they consume. Picking a machine that consumes less water and detergent will help you save substantial amount of money.

One of the many benefits of portable washers is the fact that they are really simple to install. Practically all you have to do is connect the hose for water filling and emptying and plug in the device. The truth is that you don’t really have to be a professional to install it, but ,when it comes to repairs, you might want to consider calling one. There are, but, some common problems that may occur sometimes which you can solve on your own. These problems are more setbacks than actual malfunctions so taking care of them yourself will save you both time and money.

Installation:

Step one: Unpack the washer and make sure all the parts are there. You should have a drainage hose, the clamp and the faucet adaptor.

Step two: Use the enclosed clamp to attach a goose-neck drain tube. Make sure the clamp is well tightened- your washing machine will fill up with water through this tube, so if the fit is not tight enough water may leak.

Step three: Make sure you lift and hang the drainage tube high enough (about 40 inches) so your washer can fill up with enough water.

Step four: Use the adaptor to connect the drainage tube to the sink. After you have done all that you can plug in the washer and start using it.

Reparation:

Problem #1- The machine won’t complete the rinse cycle- Check if you washer is getting enough of cold water. A blocked drainage hose is what might be causing the problem so take it off, check it and unclog, if necessary.

Problem #2- The machine is very noisy- If your washer sounds terrible during the spinning cycle, drum bearings might need to be replaced. Remove the belt from the drum bearings and manually spin the drum. If you hear the familiar sound that’s the sign the drum bearings needs to be replaced.

Problem #3- The machine won’t fill up with water- If this is the problem check cold and hot water taps. Both of them need to be turned on for the machine to start filling up.

Problem #4- The machine won’t drain- If the washer block during this washing cycle, certainly check the fabric softener dispenser. Sometimes fabric softener causes the clog but you can fix that easily by emptying and washing the dispenser.
